Terms:
Cardiac Arrest :
Heart Attack:
Respiratory Arrest: 'Lung Problem' - drowning, chemical/drug exposure, Most common form of collapse for children Can lead to Cardiac Arrest
CCR : Cardio Cerebral Resuscitation- Better for Cardiac Arrest - Chest Compression ONLY BLS Outline: - 100 Compressions
- NO Breaths
- 100 2" deep Compressions per minute
CCR is not as effective with respiratory arrest such as Drug induced coma's, some confined space accidents, drowning or with children
CCR is in vogue and appears to have a much better survival rate for Cardiac Arrest - the majority of collapsed responses.
CPR : Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation - Better for Respiratory Arrest - Compression & Rescue Breathing BLS Outline - 30 Compressions
- 2 Breaths
- A rate of 100 2" deep Compressions per minute
CPR is still the technical standard to be OSHA compliant. For most clients their responder team should be CPR trained, all other staff could be CCR trained. There will be an American Heart update in 2010 that may clarify this.
Key Facts : - In Arizona CPR survival rate is 1.8%
- In Arizona CCR survival rate 5.4%
- In Arizona AED survival rate 17.6%
